Step 1Prep the Shirts: Place a piece of cardboard inside each shirt so the paint doesn’t bleed through to the back.
Step 2Add the Star Stickers: Place small star stickers on the upper left side of the shirt where the blue handprint will go. These will create the white stars once removed.
Step 3Make the Blue Handprint: Pour blue fabric paint onto a paper plate. Paint your child’s hand evenly with the blue paint, then press it directly over the star stickers to create the flag section. Carefully lift the hand straight up and allow the paint to dry completely.
Step 4Remove the Stickers: Once the blue paint is dry, gently peel off the star stickers to reveal the white stars underneath.
Step 5Paint the Red Stripes: Using a paintbrush and red fabric paint, paint horizontal stripes across the shirt next to and underneath the handprint. You can make the stripes perfectly straight or let kids help for a more homemade look.
Step 6Let Dry: Allow the shirts to dry completely. Follow the fabric paint instructions for heat setting if needed before washing.
